Socialize Activity Book
The Buzzword partners designed this kit to inspire your family to keep learning together. We chose activities that build on your child’s natural curiosity, encouraging a growing vocabulary and a deeper engagement with books.
First, read with your child through Crunch the Shy Dinosaur by Cicco Dunlap. Then, go through the different activities and ideas together, taking time to explain the meaning of the words and connecting them to your child’s real-life experiences.

We know a lot about dinosaurs- how big they were, what they ate- but have we ever stopped to think about how they feel? Did they have friends? Did they like birthday parties? Kisses? Would they make a good pet? Check out the dinosaur fun list.

Let’s SOCIALIZE with a Dinosaur Puppet!
Making friends is fun! When we SOCIALIZE, we learn to be kind, take turns, and get along with others. Let’s practice speaking and playing with a puppet made of paper.
Materials: 9X12” piece of construction paper, 4” paper circle, 1 self-adhesive popsicle stick, paint, scissors
Step 1: Find the paper circle. This is your puppet’s face. Use the oil pastels to draw eyes and a mouth.
Step 2: Find the paper rectangle. This will be your puppet’s special spot. Use the oil pastels to decorate one side of this paper anyway you like. Try pretending this is a rock, and write your name.
Step 3: With a grown-up, follow the pictures to build your puppet and their special spot.
Step 4: Use a gentle, medium-sounding voice to ask your puppet to come out. Push up the handle, and your puppet will peek their head up. Pull the handle down if they feel shy or when it’s time to sleep.
Step 5: What other ways can you SOCIALIZE with your dinosaur puppet? Can you sing to them or play peek-a-boo?
