Dyslexia & Race: Understanding and Supporting Every Child

Read by 4th will hold a Lunch and Learn event that focuses on dyslexia and race on Thursday, December 11 on Zoom.

Learn More

Dyslexia & Race: Understanding and Supporting Every Child will explore how dyslexia is a brain-based learning difference that can make reading, spelling, and writing tougher - but not impossible.

However, the road to getting help is often more challenging for Black and brown children. Their needs are often overlooked, questions go unanswered, and support doesn’t always arrive when it should.

During this event, Resha Conroy, MPA, MS, CCC-SLP, founder and executive director of the Dyslexia Alliance for Black Children, will join a conversation to deepen attendees’ understanding of what dyslexia is; how race, culture, and bias shape diagnoses; and how practical strategies for families, educators, and allies can uplift children living with dyslexia.
