The event’s inspiration is The Frick Environmental Center’s From Slavery to Freedom Garden, which showcases crops that were invaluable to people seeking freedom, such as peanuts, green onions, and raspberries.

Freedom Harvest’s events include live performances, a variety of offerings from local food and beverage vendors, and festivities for the entire family.

There will also be interactive activities, such as garden tours and history hikes that weave tales of the past, as well as face painting and lawn games. Local community organizations will offer table activities and crafts.

Freedom Harvest will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at The Frick Environmental Center, located at 2005 Beechwood Blvd. No registration is required.
